I have a little money in my accoutnat the moment but my check gets direct deposited in a few hours. can i go ahead and pay a bill online seeing the money will be there to cover it in about 6 hours?

You risk overdrawing your account. If your account is debited for the bill one second before the deposit is credited, your account will overdraw.
It's better just to wait until you see the account has been credited.
