How personal is your Y!A account? [What if a friend / family member gained access to your whole account?]?
I don't mind my closest friends going through. That doesn't bother me. But for friends I'm not so close with, no I wouldn't. The whole point of this site is that it's annoymous.





My family? Woah, no. Not my 'rents, at least. That would be weird. There's way too much "personal" stuff I've either asked or answered about here.





My crush? Well...that's a difficult one. He doesn't do it much...and if he did I wouldn't care one bit. He knows everything about me, so he wouldn't find any surprises. :)


He has a Y!A account, but he very rarly uses it. Much to my despair! I guess it's just not his cuppa.

Reply:My account is extremely personal, and cannot be accessed by my friends or family, except for one special friend from long ago who is totally accepting; he joined Y!A too and became a contact! One of the things I love most about the site is the freedom that anonymity gives you, and it's a comfort sometimes to be able to ask questions that are too personal, or contentious, or at risk of being misunderstood, to ask in your real life.





If a friend or family member read all of my q and a without my permission, I would feel that my privacy had been violated and I would be absolutely livid.

I wouldn't really care. Its not like i've said anything bad about them or spoke about them in a bad way.

Well, my parents aren't good enough at using the computer to find me here lol. But my 16 y.o brother has an account but we don't add eachother cause' we don't wanna see eachothers questions. Although I know his account name and stuff, but he doesn't know mine.

Reply:100% completely personal. Y!A is where I can say what I want to say, not what other people want me to say, and I can ask very personal questions without being embarassed.





If anyone I knew read my questions or answers without permission, I would be furious. I think I would allow friends to read some of my answers, but never any of my questions. It's not that I'm embarassed of them, it's just that they get quite personal, which is great! I love this site for that reason.
Reply:FRIENDS - I dont think they would be surprised, my friends pretty much know everything about me and about everything i believe in, what i get annoyed at and what makes me happy etc.


anything too personal isnt on this site in any of my q's or a's.





FAMILY - same as above, they know almost everything about me, maybe if it was my brother he would be a bit surprised but nothing more than that i dont thin.

I would honestly feel mortified. It is sorta my personal life which i wouldn't wanna share.

My friends: I wouldn't care. They know everything about me. I know everything about them. That's just how it works. Id be fine about it :).





A family member: Depends who. My sisters/cousins I'd be fine with it. They know everything anyways. Wouldn't be a surprise.





My boyfriend: Haha I don't know what I'd do. Probably be a little upset. Most of my questions are about him so I don't think he would appreciate it. It would probably cause a fight.

Reply:My account is very personal, I got it so I could ask questions that I didn't want to concern friends and family with. My best friend found it. I felt like an idiot. I would be doomed if a family member read my questions :S I'de be in a mental hospital as quick as you can say INSANE! And... My crush would think I'm nuts also, but there's nothing about people I've liked here.
Reply:A friend/family member can read all my questions and answers any time they like. I'm posting them in public, after all! All they need to do is click on my profile - it's not private.
