What to do when someone has stole your yahoo account and now they are sending emails stating they money?

I used my yahoo account last nigt. When I tried to log on today it sadi that my id or password was invalid. I check my husband emails and someone sent him a email from my address stating they are in Africa working with HIv/ Aids people. They need money because they lost there wallet in a taxi cab. I had to open a new account with yahoo and now all of my contact are lost. What should I do.

You must act very quickly on this issue. There is one piece of information that you have about your account that the hacker does not have and can not know unless you gave it to them.





Contact Yahoo! Customer Care immediately, as you are required to do as part your Terms of Service agreement Section 28 http://info.yahoo.com/legal/us/yahoo/uto...





They have your date of birth on file as a security measure. Pursue this with them but be prepared for resistance as they must be confident you are not spooking them to get to the account.





What they will do is lockout the account preserving your information. I don't know what happens after that.

Report Abuse To Your Account





if you have signed in yahoo in the last 4 months and it won"t take your sign in details


some one has probably hacked your account





if someone has changed your personal info


you probably wil not be able to recover the account





What you can do if you think someone has accessed your account without permission


you can report them and change password at link below if possible

Reply:Contact Yahoo imediatly. Have them investigate and close your accont. Act quick becuase what the person that stole your account is doing is illegal and you do not want someone looking for you because they think you are doing it. Also please watch your credit cards and bank statements carfully. My sister had something very similar happan and not only was her email account hacked into but the person stole several of her credit card numbers and bank informatin. According to her bank this was not hard for the person to do. Before she even knew anything was wrong her bank account was over drawn $1000.00 and every credit card number they stole was maxed out. The money was eventually refunded to her but the person who did this was never found. Please be carefull.

Open “My computer” on desk top.


Open “C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profile...


Then click on the name you used on yahoo messenger (Example: C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profile\Dr.Atari)


Then Click on “Archives” then “Messages”


(NOTE: If you don’t see this folder “Archives” then you never set up yahoo to have an Archive, none of this will help you. But I can help you set it up for next time.)


If you do see the folder “Archive” click on it.


In Messages folder you will see every contact you have talked to with this name on this computer only.





If you don't see Archives folder then do this for next time.


Logon Yahoo Messenger.


In yahoo messenger look on the top of it you will see Messenger, Contacts, Actions and Help.


Click on “Messenger” here you will see “My Status, No Incoming Calls and so on, Go down to “Preferences”, click on it


From here you will see “Category:” under it you will see General, Alerts %26amp; Sounds, Appearance and Archive (and more), click on Archive.


Here you will see two settings for Archive with 3 options each.


The first setting pick “ O Yes, save all of my messages”


The second setting pick “ O Yes, save all my call history”


Hit “Apply” at the bottom then OK.


The reason you didn’t see an Archive folder is that you never set it up to do so.


This won’t help you get back your lost info, (I’m sorry) but it will help you next time your account gets deleted.
