If I am low on funds in my checking account, is it wise to use my overdraft protection?

If I am low on funds in my checking account, is it better to use my overdraft protection, or should I transfer money from my savings account into the checking account? If I go into overdraft, I plan to pay it as soon as the next time I get paid.

Never use you overdraft protection when you don't have to. You will have to decide what the costs are, like bounced check fees, or late fees from whatever bill you are paying, and use that cost to help you decide if the protection should be used. It is always better to transfer the funds needed to cover what checks you write, if at all possible. If you use the overdraft protection as a common answer to your account being too low, it will start to become a downward spiral, and lead you to poor financial practices and attitudes.
Reply:NO, do not use your overdraft. It is better to transfer money from your savings account.
Reply:No. because not only will you have to replace the overcharge the bank will charge you up to $35 dolars just for the fact that you used the overdraft.
Reply:TRansfer funds.

Look at the fees whenever your overdraft protection kicks in.

Plus it's a bad habit to get into.
Reply:you need to transfer.
Reply:ITA with the first person who answered. DH %26amp; I had that overdraft protection once a LOOOONG time ago...let's just say that it was a BAD idea!

take it from somone who's been there...don't do it. It's great if you make a mistake %26amp; it's only 1ce, but if you get caught in the catch 22 of the whole thing...yeah, you're gonna pay fees out yer ****!
Reply:Transfer funds - do not use the overdraft.
Reply:You get charged fees for using overdraft protection. It is supposed to be for an emergency only type thing. So transfer the funds. If you are really hurting for cash go fine out your overdraft limit and take out one big lump sum. Most overdrafts charge per transaction so this way you will only pay 1 fee. Then when you get paid put it all into your account to bring it into a positive balance.
