Can I get cable TV service off of the account of another person in my complex?

My wife and I live in the same apartment complex as her parents. We currently don't have cable tv service because we hardly watch it, they have Time Warner Cable. They are trying to tell us if we take one of their cable boxes and hook it up to our tv, that we should get tv off of their account. Would that be possible? We live in the same complex, but different building. We don't particularly want/need the cable tv service, but they keep pressing the issue so I was just wondering if it could be done.

1. you would be guilty of cable theft if this was possible, and your in laws would be guilty of being accessories.

2. it is not possible, because you still need not only cable wiring coming into the apartment, but it must be activated. simply connecting the cable box to the TV does nothing.
Reply:Yes, it could be done. Without an account in your own name and you hook up to the cable, it is called Cable Theft. Cable companies will prosecute anyone who does that. Many people don't realize that cable companies have vehicles equipped to detect any cable theft. Inform your in-laws that what they are insisting upon is breaking the law. Thank you for being honest and doing the right thing.
