Where can I cash a check without a bank account?

Not only where, but I'd rather it be a place where I can be 15 and still be able to do so by myself. I live on Staten Island so if anyone knows a place I can easily cash a check at the age of 15, please let me know.

I know I can just go to the bank with my parents, but they aren't the type of parents that would enjoy escorting me to do this kind of thing. They prefer if I handle all my affairs alone.

Call western union to see if they will do it. Your local convenience or grocery store may do it for a fee. If it is a payroll check, walmart will do it. Of course, there is a fee ($3.00, I think). You will need to have some kind of ID, I don't know if there is an age limit though. And I don't know if there is a walmart near Staten Island. Call your nearest Walmart and ask if there is an minimum age.
Reply:Cash it at the bank it was drawn/written on. The name of the bank on the check. If it is not local, try a liquor store, grocery, or check cashing service those are everywhere. Be prepared to show ID and to pay for the service if you cash it anywhere other than the bank.
Reply:BS. Your parents won't help you. Take it to one of those check cashing services and pay them 10 - 25% of the check value then. Sounds like you have a stolen check to me and you don't want to get caught by your parnets. Guess what? The check cashing services check to see if the checks are ligit too.
Reply:if a payroll check, any major grocery chain will cash your check if you have some ID. A personal check is a two party check and thats a different story.
Reply:A convenience store? Some will do it. If you're looking for something legit though... you're outta luck. Just go open a bank account somewhere. Why isn't that an option?
Reply:Walmart ,they charge 3 bucks,but its quick.
Reply:I applaud your independence Mike but you will then be relegated to a check cashing service who will be delighted to cash your check and take a big ol chunk of it for their trouble. Why can't you just sign your check over to your folks and let them bank it at their leisure, better yet there are a few banks left that give minors bank accounts piggybacked off their parents accounts for safety. This would give you economic freedom and teach you how to manage your money and track a bank account. I got one for my daughter when she was 15 and she is building credit and totally independent.
Reply:You need some form of identification. If you have that, then look at the check. There should be a bank listed on the check. That is the bank that is obligated to cash the check and they will be able to cash it for you even if you don't have an account at the bank.
